Just HOW FAST is 4G?!

So much talk of the 4G speeds at "100-150mbps" - but just how fast is this actually in real terms...

In easy terms this speedometer means 4G is faster than a CONCORDE!

3G is the normal speed, but this is easily overtaken by Lewis Hamilton in his F1 motor. A Formula One car can accelerate from zero to 100mph and then brake and come to a full stop all in the space of five seconds. This is quite literally a break-neck speed!

Then if we look at a jet airplane which go in excess of 2,000km per hour, we're breaking the sound barrier. But 4G is faster than that... downloading 100,000 bytes per second!

In real life terms this means than any file, web page or document is literally downloaded in the blink of an eye. And even a HD movie would only take around 10seconds. Mega speeds for DATA!

BB + 4G = EE with the BlackBerry Q5

Following the launch of the Z10 and Q10 earlier in the year, BlackBerry now introduces the Q5 - and this could be its most important phone to date! Whilst its predecessors are perhaps designed for the "diehard" premium RIM fan, the Q5 allows all the luxury and capability of a QWERTY BB but without the cost! Now available from Telephones Direct on the latest 4GEE plans from EE from as little as £28.50!

Layout and feel is as good the Q10 – the screen is identical, a square 3.1 inch display that’s high-res and pin-sharp. Far better than you might expect for the price! And there’s the new BB10 operating system which is very different from most rivals, but much more enjoyable to use once you get used to it.

What we think is fantastic is the five-megapixel camera’s TimeShift feature which takes multiple shots and lets you combine elements from each to create the best result – so if one person’s smiling in the first shot and the other’s blinking in all but the third, you can pick the faces from each! It is available on other phones as well now, most notably Nokia’s, but it’s very nicely implemented here. The keys on the Q5 aren’t quite as wonderful as on the Q10, though the physical travel is still much better than a touchscreen and they’re well-spaced which makes typing faster.

If you're coming over from O2 - Three - Vodafone - or other you can move your existing number to EE with the Q5 today from just £30 for 4G exclusive super-fast signal and service!

And remember moving from Orange or Tmobile you can migrate to EE with up to 18 months left in contract with Orange to EE early upgrade!

EE boosts 4G speeds & drops prices!

EE is doubling 4G speeds for new and existing customers beginning on 4th July 2013 for no extra charge!

Summer Promotion

As part of the summer promotion to attract more customers, EE and Telephones Direct are boosting speeds to 150 mbps (megabytes per second!) and dropping prices, along with a joint venture with MasterCard to boost the use of NFC payments.

EE said 4G speeds will be doubled in 12 cities initially. These include Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Nottingham and Sheffield.

While 4G tariffs are NORMALLY slightly higher priced than the 3G plans, the network is launching a promotion between July and September to add to the growing base of 4G subscribers at 500,000 and growing!

Cash on Tap

And to boost the use of NFC wireless payments with your mobile device, EE has teamed up with MasterCard to offer the Cash on Tap service. This allows users to make payments for good & services up to the value of £20 and is accepted in 230,000 retail stores. EE also offers £10 credit for users when they sign up.

Nokia 520 - fastest selling phone EVER?!

The Nokia Lumia 520 - Entry Level Model Set To Become The Fastest Selling Windows Phone...

The Windows Mobile operating system may not yet be up to the popularity of the rival Android and Apple iOS but it's growing by the day! Whilst Nokia is looking to lead the tech race with their Lumia 920 4G smartphone, it has just been revealed that it is the Nokia Lumia 520 that is shaping up to become the fastest selling Windows phone ever produced.

It looks as though the typical Windows Phone consumer is attracted to great value for money rather than cutting edge specification. It was revealed on Twitter that in the four weeks since its release the 520 had sold one million units giving it a share of 4.4% of the total Windows market.
